Blind Spots: One Reason Why Accidents Occur and How They can be Managed

looking thru the side mirror

Blind spots prevent a driver from being able to see another driver in his or her surrounding area on the road. Blind spots are areas that cannot be seen around or near a vehicle when looking forward, into rear-view mirrors, or side mirrors. Sedans, sports cars, SUVs, trucks, and every other type of vehicle has blind spots. Auto and trucking accidents occur when blind spots are not properly checked before making a turn, lane change, or merging onto another road.

To prevent an accident caused by your blind spot or another person’s blind spot, be sure to use caution when maneuvering your vehicle into other flows of traffic. When you are making a lane change, check your mirrors, turn your head to make sure the lanes are clear, and be mindful of the vehicles around you. Also note that using your vehicle’s turn signals 100 feet prior turning or changing lanes is required by law in the state of Florida.

At Slater | Grant, we care about the safety and wellbeing of you and your family on the road. We handle all types of truck accident, motorcycle accident, and car accident cases.
