Fatal Dump Truck Accident in Martin County

A Chevrolet Avalanche traveling east on State Road 710 was struck head on by a dump truck that veered into oncoming traffic.

68-year-old Chris Buchanan of Okeechobee, died from the fatal accident at the scene. Passenger, Deborah Buchanan, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute. Dump truck driver, Kevin Simmonds, sustained minor injuries. Lanes on State Road 710 were closed off that afternoon then later re-opened. Florida State Troopers and homicide investigators have the case pending investigation.
