USDA Endorses Florida Hemp Plans
Last week, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) added Florida to the list of states whose plans for hemp farming have been approved. Hemp and its derivatives were legalized on the federal level back in 2018.
Florida Agriculture Commissioner, Nikki Fried, stated in a press release that “By working closely with our farmers, processors, retailers, and consumers, Florida…will set a gold standard for this emerging industry, and will create billions in economic opportunity…”
The USDA is maintaining the limit on THC, describing it as a “statutory matter” that cannot be handled organizationally. In the meantime, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is continuing to work on establishing regulations for CBD.
